We went to Windycon last weekend; a wonderful weekend with lots of time together and lots and lots of old friends; it was so good to be back in our fannish home. Came home and discovered I had sold a MASSIVE amount of fiber; must now go and dye. Current Mood: cheerful

November 4th, 200911:07 am: ...greatly exaggerated.
So, yesterday, I thought I was well. I'd put in a full day of blending and dyeing fiber, cooked supper for the guys, and was feeling that life was full of promise. Woke up this morning with a headache, a tickle, and laryngitis. Damn! I don't have to do much today, will go back to resting up...... Current Mood: disappointed
November 3rd, 200909:21 pm: I DID it!!!
Unbelievable! I actually beat a cold! For three weeks I fought a tickle, and it's gone and I actually got a solid day's work done today. I can't remember the last time I actually had the patience to wait out a cold. Usually I start out trying to rest, and then eventually say, "This is boring!" and go back to my regular activities and get sick... In other news, I'm in therapy for my bruised knee. I did the exercises so hard I developed sciatica, so he's modified my program and given me a stretch to loosen things up at the base of my spine. Two steps forward, one step back, cha, cha, cha... Current Mood: productive
October 31st, 200910:00 pm: All Hallow's Eve
Tonight is the beginning of the Feast of all Saints, when we celebrate those who have gone before. It's also (All Hallow's Eve) the title of a cracking good book by Charles Williams, about two girls who die and what happens to them next. Pax. Current Mood: contemplative
October 25th, 200903:59 pm: Lying low
I've spent today in bed, after a pleasant and active day yesterday. I've been fighting a cold. The tickle in the back of my throat had progressed to a burning in my sinuses, but seems to be generally dissipating. Maybe I'll win? Current Mood: hopeful
October 20th, 200912:23 pm: Crippled old woman
Well, always a woman, and currently crippled, but there's hope for changing that now. My knee, injured this summer, has yet to heal, and it's been making me feel awfully feeble and pulled-down. But, I saw a PT yesterday and he analyzed my stance. Turns out, my foot doesn't hit the floor square, and every time I walk, my joints are thrown out of alignment, which re-aggravates the knee injury. So: orthotics, shoes in the house, and maybe some healing? Current Mood: hopeful
October 11th, 200909:08 am: Congratulations!
Congratulations to haddayr , who is made entirely of awesome, for getting her letter into the Strib! Current Mood: excited
October 9th, 200909:34 pm: End of a stressful week
We had four days camping in really challenging cold and rain somewhat preceded and somewhat followed by the heavy lifting needed to prepare for the new windows. Then window installation, then days of agony trying to put the rooms to rights again.
It's good to have some of that done. My spinning client is pleased with what I've done with her llama fiber so far, which is wonderful.
I had a good afternoon with B.J., she helped me warp my linen loom and we went out to the knitting group that meets at Merlin's Rest.
Good day, by and large. eta: cleaned up typos. What was that about? I know I wasn't drunk... Current Mood: exanimate
September 29th, 200906:41 pm: Erm...
Things I did last night. Apologize to long-suffering husband for taking on ten projects when I have twenty still half finished... Current Mood: guilty
06:32 pm: Things I did today
Worked in friend's garden. Read with first-graders. Planted stuff in my own garden. Cleaned and froze sheep's offal. Bought boards for salting hides. Salted down two sheep's hides. Cleaned up. Brought in orchids in case of frost. Picked raspberries. Uprooted basil and put in bucket of water to shield from frost. Made dinner for family. Bought groceries. Bought spacer sticks for loom. Helped G. to cut sticks in half. Started to pack for trip tomorrow. Yet to do: Clean and freeze sheep's stomach. Wash hair. Finish string heddles on loom. Work more on packing. Go down to Albert Lea to direct camp setup. Pick up A.P. Set up tent. Current Mood: accomplished
September 25th, 200906:01 pm: Cloth of Gold
This gives a whole new meaning to the phrase, Cloth of Gold. Astonishing! Current Mood: Amazed
September 18th, 200910:18 pm: Still hating my CPAP...
but going back to using it because today I had a nap coma, for the first time since I stopped. Not good...
September 14th, 200901:38 pm: God, I hate my CPAP
Half a year after I got the danged thing, and I have almost never slept through the night. I often go to sleep OK (with a sleeping pill!), but wake at 2:00 or 3:00 to go to the bathroom. By the time I wake up enough to take the thing off, go down the hall, and then put the thing back on, I am WIDE awake and worried about going back to sleep, so of course I don't... A couple of nights ago it was bugging me so much at bedtime that I decided just to do without it. I had a wonderful sleep and a good day the next day. Last night I couldn't bear the thought of putting it on so I didn't; had another wonderful night; must have gone to the bathroom but don't even remember it. And yet the sleep techs tell me I'm not getting any rest without it. Well, I sure wasn't getting any rest WITH it. I hope the surgery helps... Current Mood: unhappy
September 7th, 200909:37 pm: Great holiday weekend
So we began with the movie with a friend on Friday. Saturday we had to have the window guy come back out--the Tinker was going to strip and repaint all our windows, but it turned out that the wood was so bad we have to replace all of them. They should be ready to install in mid-October. In the later afternoon we ran errands in south Minneapolis. Sunday was church, Tom, checking out Gaffney's new garage with the Tinker, then home for a nap. Spaghetti for supper that night. Today we slept in--MMMMMMMMMM, sleep! Then puttered around the house. I realized that if Susan was going to have stuff from me for Wisconsin Sheep and Wool I had better get moving. We've hung a couple of big boxes (flat) in the garage, so I grabbed one, assembled it, and filled it. A friend came over in the afternoon to help harvest hops. The aroma always mellows me out. After we were done and had had the obligatory beer (Relax! Don't worry! Have a homebrew!), I took a couple of packages down to the post office on Post Road, out by the airport. It never closes... In the evening, grilled pork chops and zucchini, with some corn on the cob. More puttering; I have a batch of yarn on the stove to dye, some silk steeping in cold dye solution, and more yarn to dye tomorrow. Watched a few episodes of Dirty Jobs. Bed now. Really enjoyed the weekend with G. Current Mood: content
September 4th, 200910:46 pm: :)
Just went to Julie and Julia with G and KH. Shared hors d'ouvres and wine afterwards. Lovely evening. So squiffy... Current Mood: content

I don't think I've posted here that I now have an Etsy shop. Find me at AfterTheSheep.etsy.com. I have a fair amount of stuff in there and more coming all the time! Cheers! Current Mood: pleased
August 22nd, 200909:14 am: The rain is over
...at least for the weekend. It's a beautiful day and I'm going to the MN. Landscape Arboretum with KH!
